Frederik Bogaerts, President

Frederik Bogaerts works as a SQL Server Consultant at Kohera, mainly focused on query tuning and T-SQL development projects working with a variety of different SQL server versions. He is always trying to learn more in depth about how the SQL server engine works and how the optimizer thinks.



Benni De Jagere, Company Secretary

Benni De Jagere is a Senior Data Insights Consultant at Realdolmen, with a strong focus on the Microsoft (BI) Stack. He’s also the proud owner of an MCSE BI, Data Platform and Data Management + Analytics.

On a daily basis he turns (large amounts) of coffee into insights for customers, and references witty British comedy way too often. Overly enthusiastic about anything data related, he’s trying hard to keep up with all things new and shiny.



Karim Ourtani, Webmaster

Karim Ourtani currently works as an Information Architect for the department for Welfare, Public Health and Family within the Flemish Government and a member of the board of dataMinds, the Belgian Data Platform User group. He has been working with SQL Server Since 1998 (version 6.5).

After working in the Banking Sector in London he moved onto various web projects where SQL Server was at the core of all his undertakings.

Upon his return to Belgium he initially focused on the BI capabilities of SQL Server as well as Database Programming, but since joining the Flemish Government in 2012 he has been focused on web and application development with C#.

Lately he has been making a transition to the world of Information Management and Architecture where from a technical point of view he is getting to grips with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

Karim is also track owner (Data, Power BI, SQL Server, AI) at Techorama



Frederik Vandeputte, Core member

Frederik Vandeputte is a senior consultant and managing partner at Kohera, the largest Belgian company fully focused on the Microsoft Data platform.  Frederik is one of the co-founders and the President of DataMinds.be. In January 2008 Frederik, became the first Belgian MVP on SQL Server.



Nico Verbaenen, Core member

Nico Verbaenen is Senior Performance Management Architect at Axinco and Architect at Kohera. Working with SQL Server for over 16 years Nico has been specializing on the BI side of the Microsoft stack for the last 12 years. This results in an extensive technical knowledge of the Microsoft BI products as well as non-technical skills like user requirement gathering, DWH Design & Project management. One of the newest interest for Nico is all about the cloud, especially from a Business Intelligence point of view.



Stijn Wynants, Core member

Stijn is a SQL Server Consultant with a DBA focus working for Kohera since 2013.
When a query goes bad, Stijn loves to come to the rescue as query tuning is what he enjoys the most, apart from query tuning Stijn also enjoys doing audits,installations and SQL architecture design & implementation.
He is also a regular speaker on International & Belgian events with a main focus on columnstore sessions.



Pieter Vanhove, Core member

Pieter Vanhove is a SQL Server Premier Field Engineer at Microsoft Belgium and has been working with SQL Server since 2000. Performance tuning, SQL audits, migrations and training are part of the job. Pieter has also a profound knowledge in implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions and loves the new Azure stuff. Together with the SQLUG in Belgium, he helps organizing SQL Server Days and is also a regular speaker at Belgian and international events. Pieter recently won the Speaker Idol Contest at PASS Summit 2014.



Bart Thans, Core member

Bart Thans is a BI Consultant at Ordina.

He has been working with SQL Server from version 2008R2, mainly focussing on data integration (SSIS) and datawarehouse implementations.

He’s currently working on projects involving Log Shipping, AlwaysOn Availability groups, query optimizing.

In his spare time he likes reading, running and collecting vintage chronographs.



Sammy Deprez, Core member

Sammy is senior consultant and Managing Partner of Arinti (a company focused on the Microsoft AI Platform) He is passionate about everything that has to do with data and anything connecting to that, from reporting till data science & AI. Worked on projects locally & abroad and in industries from healthcare to finance & banking. And most importantly he loves to share his knowledge with others.



Jan Van humbeek, Core member

Jan Van humbeek is a Senior Microsoft BI consultant and Competence Center Lead working for Ordina Belgium.
Over the years, he’s gathered a lot experience with all the core BI components the SQL Server stack has to offer.
Currently he holds most SQL Server MCSA & MCSE certifications and also renews his MCSE Data Management and Analytics yearly.

He is always eager to continue learning and to share his knowledge and experiences.
His main focus is lifting data to higher quality standards and improving on the implemented BI processes.
Aside from his technical interest & skills, he also has a deep fondness for Data Vault and Anchor Modeling architectures.



Marc Mertens, Honorary Member

Marc Mertens is a SQL server and dot.net trainer/consultant voor Global Knowledge. He has been working with Sql Server from version 4.x up to version 2008R2. His Microsoft certifications are MCSA, MCSE, MCDBA, MCAD, MCSD and of course MCT. He worked with the relational part as well as the BI part of SQL Server.



Steve Verschaeve, Honorary Member

Steve Verschaeve is a SQL Server Premier Field Engineer at Microsoft Belgium and has been working with SQL Server since 2003.

He holds an MCP, MCTS, MCITP and MCT certificate in SQL Server and SharePoint.

If he’s not working you will find him messing around with Arduino.



Valentino Vranken, Honorary Member

Valentino Vranken is a Senior SQL Server Consultant at Ordina. When he started his career over ten years ago he was developing applications using C++ and SQL Server 7.0. Over the years he gathered experience using various programming languages to manipulate data in SQL Server databases. Nowadays his focus is more on Business Intelligence implementations, still using SQL Server. Valentino is a MCP with one MCITP and three MCTS certifications on SQL Server 2008. In his spare time he helps the community by sharing information on his blog and through forums. More details about him can be found on his About page.
