To understand how our tools (and their focus and limitations) came to be, it pays to look at where we come from and what problems our predecessors encountered. BI as a field exploded in the last few years, but people have been analyzing business data to answer questions for decades before that. From Boyce & Codd at IBM who invented the relational model, to ChatGPT today, we’ll talk about a history of our field full of fun facts you didn’t know, and useful info you need to know.
